TheNewsRoom . com - an alternative way to monetize your site
Author: Nick PapanotasWhat you see above these lines looks nice, and definitely it does not look like an advertisement, right? Well I am afraid you are wrong because this is a new monetization system created by Voxant and TheNewsRoom network. This new kind of advertising is an extended news publishing network with many good partners like the Associated Press, Reuters, McClatchy-Tribune Information, Agence France-Press, etc. and in my opinion they provide a very fresh way to make more money with your web site.
How it works
The news room provides you with video, text and image creatives. All their content is news, which they have very well categorized (and searchable) in their site. What you have to do is grab the content you like - and it is more relevant with your site’s content - and paste the code in your site.
How do they pay?
This program is CPM so you will get paid for every impression of your site, and their ad rates are $1 - $4 depending on the content type you are using.
When do they pay
According to their FAQs they pay on monthly basis. Lowest payment is set to $50.
My first experience
I am a member for just a little time so I don’t have much to say, but I will post back here whenever I have something more to report on TheNewsRoom. Right now I like their system, which is a little different from a “traditional” CPM network, but you will find easily whatever you need. Something I don’t like is that there is not yet been enabled a reporting console, but according to their FAQs they will add it in the near future. I know that this wont sound very professional but they are a serious company so I wont mind for the moment.
I will have you updated on this one, please share your thoughts with us

It sounds very nice for webmasters, but there are some issues. I have tried their program, but no impressions are counted (for entirely viewed video news) and several technical isues were occured (some feeds do not load - perpetuum loading message - or report that there are not news related). Not sure if they’re serious. Maybe they are still working to improve the service.

I tried their site and they have some very serious technical issues. I signed up and in about a week I earned 20 bucks, not bad. Then all of a sudden my earnings would not update nightly as they should. After three days my earnings finally did update and my earnings had actually been decreased. Thats right instead of 20 dollars they now showed I had 16 dollars earned with them. I was losing money, with an ad agency.
They started out promising but I don’t think these guys are serious. Tech support seems to consist of a teenage girl telling you that there is a problem with their database. These guys seem to be in way over their head!!

I have already canceled my account with them, as some of the entirely viewed videos (including the ads) were not counted and commissions were not generated (for these views). Of course, anybody is free to try

I just signed up and I made a penny so we will see what happens. I talked to a guy there and he was nice with a british accent. He said to make sure to read the TOS and that if they detect illegal clicks, they will not pay.

I have made over $500 from the newsroom and have been paid so to the person that said they don’t pay doesn’t know what they are talking about.
I was also lucky enough to be one of their top 10 publishers one month and for that they sent me a 30gb ipod.
And now they have the newsperk reward program up and running also so for every dollar you earn you also earn a point and you can redeem them for merchandise. You can redeem as few as 15 and up to 500 (if you want a 160gb iPod it will cost you 500 points)
So there ya go.. they arent a scam.. and they work if you have a good amount of traffic to your site.

#Danny,
I think that almost every program will work if you have enough traffic
Maybe you can tell us the value for your earnings for 1000 impressions (eCPM)
$500 is a relative amount…

Their system is a bit lagging on update of the commission part and now I have achieved USD50 and waiting for the check. If it didn’t come I would declare it as a scam.

I’m waiting for their payment. I would declare it as scam if the check didn’t arrive.

Currently I am earning on average about $50 a day with about 12,000 impressions I only show them on my homepage so I do get a lot more page impressions than 12k sitewide).. so I am getting a little over $4cpm on average.
And I’ve earned over $2000 from thenewsroom.com so far.
I’ve also cashed in a bunch of the newsperks points for a few things including 2 new cordless phones and over $250 worth of best buy gift cards and starbucks gift cards.
To the poster above me I have to ask if you have sent them the w9 they require to send payment?
Every person I have referred has been paid after they sent the info.

Searching about Thenewsroom, ^.^ that’s how I got here.. Let’s try and see. I’ve earned more than 30 bucks from them and 2o bucks to go before payout. And yeah, they do ask for SSN for tax purposes. And maybe that’s why some site owners haven’t been paid because they haven’t submitted the stuffs Voxant is asking (for tax) before payment.

I haven’t received my payment yet, although I have reached the minimum payment thread, I am not sure whether they will pay me or not.
